My Story Illuminates What is Possible for You

I am a 4th generation Oklahoman on both sides. My grandparents all grew up on farms and left to become a housewife, a truck driver, join the army and to work in a factory. Now that I live on a farm I feel like I’ve come full circle.

When I was a child, a tarot reader told my stepmother that I would become a witch. My sister told me this recently, after I’d established my business around astrology. I find it amusing!

I am a member of the Cherokee Nation through my mother’s mother who died when I was seven years old. I feel blessed to be following Lakota ways and holding those traditions at our farm.

I’ve struggled massively with anxiety in my life. When I first went to therapy I didn’t realize it wasn’t normal to feel this way. I have come to peace with it at this point; it still comes up, but instead of inhabiting it I notice it, ask myself what I need, and move ahead mostly undeterred.

I have out-earned every woman in my mother’s line, and had to overcome narratives of scarcity that those women picked up from growing up poor, being told they were worthless by an alcoholic parent, and living under a legacy of oppression because of their indigeneity, poverty or femaleness.

I live on a 160 acre farm in rural Maine on unceded Wabanaki territory, in a house from 1890. Colonial efforts have degraded this land and we are committed to leaving it better than we found it.

Planting seeds gives me so much hope. It is such a simple act, and yet when the plants grow and produce something beautiful or delicious, I am consistently awed. I’m also obsessed with flowers.

I’ve built two online businesses to multiple 6 figures in the last two years. I absolutely love what I do. I really believe that if more people did work that was in alignment with their own blueprint and earned unabashedly they would change the world for the better, way before governments could.

I lived at Shakespeare and Company bookstore on the Seine in Paris when I was 22, bathing in public bath houses that existed in the 14th century, eating baguettes and cheese, and sleeping in a used sleeping bag in the children’s section, while reading Russian novels from the 1800s and learning French.

I have an undergraduate degree in anthropology, and when I graduated one of my professors said “you will use this degree everyday” and I feel like I have. It informs how I widen my perspective and get curious, and the magic that can happen in that state of curiosity.

I’ve been featured in the New York Times for a vegetable garden I planted on my rooftop in Manhattan. In the article I also said, “the truth is that I harbor a secret desire to be a farmer,” and well… here I am 13 years later, farming.

I’ve had a steady morning practice for over ten years that grounds me and provides connection to something beyond me, inspires gratitude at the beginning of the day, and supports me before I get too into the thick of things.

I am committed to social justice, and looking at all the ways this needs to be addressed in my life and business. I give back thousands of dollars every year from the overflow of my business to causes that are important to me, often indigenous-led.

I’ve been studying astrology and the sciences of India with world-renowned teachers for the past ten years. I have the ability to see how the planets are organized in your chart as you are talking. I am a projector in Human Design, so I can literally see peoples blindspots and this enables me to be a great guide when someone invites my input.

I’ve been lucky to spend a significant amount of time in India, over two years in total spread out over the last 8 years. I owned a cottage on the Ganges in the high Himalayas where I did several long-term silent retreats.

Both of my parents are entrepreneurs, and I learned early on about business and working for yourself from my dad. When I was a child he used to talk to me like an adult, telling me about his deals, and deals gone wrong, sharing real numbers and answering all my questions honestly.
